Diversity & Inclusion Strategies to Improve African American and Latina Maternal Infant Health in Frederick County

African American and Latina women and infants experience higher rates of mortality and morbidity.  The American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Academy for Family Physicians, and the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine recommend that providers participate in diversity and inclusion training.  With funding from the Frederick County Office for Children, the Frederick County ACEs Workgroup is pleased to offer this highly interactive, experiential and research based training to help turn the curve for better outcomes.

Learning Objectives
• Understand the concepts of diversity, inclusion, and unconscious bias: What are they? How do they work? Why are they important?
• Explore how these concepts impact decision making, health care outcomes, and business results
• View Frederick County data on maternal and infant health outcomes, focusing on health disparities among women and infants of color
• Create a personal action plan to focus on conscious inclusion.
• Create a plan to address cultural inclusion within your organization and across institutional silos.
