Give back to our community through service work

We envision a world where all individuals discover their power to make a difference and are equipped as active, engaged citizens.

For Individuals

At United Way of Frederick County, we believe that anyone can be a philanthropist, whether it's through giving time or monetary donations. Sharing your time and talents is an invaluable way to give back and impact the lives of your neighbors. And we make volunteering fun, easy, and accessible to individuals, groups, and corporations so that they can take action on the causes they care about the most. Sign up through our website, and we will update you when volunteer opportunities come up throughout the year, including our Days of Service that run in the spring and fall. Check out our upcoming events here.

If you're interested in becoming a VITA volunteer, please sign up here. Please contact Shana Knight, Community Engagement Manager, at if you have any questions about volunteering in Frederick County.

For Businesses

We coordinate corporate volunteering activities as team building projects. Contact Shana Knight, Community Engagment Manager, at today to learn more and find a project that’s right for your team.

Nonprofit Organizations

If your organization is a registered 501(c) (3) organization, government agency, neighborhood association, eldercare facility or public school that accepts volunteers regardless of race, ethnic origin/nationality, religious affiliation, gender, sexual orientation, age or disability, we can assist you in recruiting volunteers to support your organization.

If you're an AGENCY that would like to put in a request to have volunteers complete a project, please fill out a project request application by clicking: Project Request Application.

Please contact Shana Knight, Community Engagement Manager, at to learn more about becoming a partner agency. Please also contact Shana if you would like to organize a volunteer opportunity for our Day of Action the first Friday of every October.
