Prosperity Savings Account Volunteers

Interested in helping people take the steps to become financially independant?

Become a Prosperity Savings Account Mentor or a Budget Coach. Both volunteer options are a remarkable opportunity to help someone's financial journey.

 

Budget Coach

Goals and responsibilities: Coaches help ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) households improve thier ability to budget and make well-informed financial decisions including basic budget techniques, financial mangagement and goal attainment strategies.

Commitment: 

  • One-time four-hour training 
  • One hour in-person coahing session with client, once a month, for one year
  • Coach a minimum of two people per month, resulting in two hours per month
  • Participate in the reporting process regarding each particpant's progress

Location: In-person meetings must be done in public locations such as the Bernard W. Brown Community Center or C. Burr Artz Library.

A Prosperity Savings Account Mentor

Goals and responsibilities:  Mentors help ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) households with Prosperity Savings Accounts succeed in meeting program account requirements. 

Qualifications: Enjoy encouraging and supporting others. No professional experience needed. Training provided.

Commitment:

  • One hour, one-time training session
  • Connect with saver via phone, text, email, or in-person, at least once a month to review and verify the following:
          Verify that minimum deposits have been made
          Verify classes have been scheduled and attended
          Make suggestions regarding each saver's personal progress.

          Participate in reporting process regarding each participants progress
  • Give encouragement as savers overcome obstacles, achieve program requirements, and accomplish financial goals
  • Participate in reporting processes regarding each participant's progress
