At Saputo, giving back isn’t just a checkbox—it’s a core value that guides their commitment to building stronger, healthier communities. That’s why their partnership with United Way of Frederick County has become such a powerful part of their local impact. “What inspires us to volunteer with United Way is their deep-rooted commitment to creating lasting, meaningful change,” the team shares. “They don’t just treat symptoms—they go to the root causes, bringing people and organizations together to drive real progress. That mission aligns perfectly with our company values.”
Over the past few years, Saputo employees have jumped in wholeheartedly to support several of United Way’s most impactful initiatives. For the past two years, they’ve taken part in Day of Action, lending a hand at community sites like the Delaplaine Arts Center—where they moved and cleaned classroom furniture—and Grace United Church of Christ, where they crafted no-sew blankets for children and families in need. The team also enthusiastically pitched in for Stuff the Bus, helping ensure local students start the school year with the tools they need to succeed. And their support doesn’t stop with volunteer hours—Saputo has also sponsored programs like Blessings in a Backpack and the 8K Summer Solstice, helping to fund essential services for ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) families in Frederick County.
The ripple effects of this volunteerism have been profound. “It’s had such a powerful impact on our employees,” Saputo shares. “It’s an opportunity to step outside of our day-to-day routines and be part of something bigger. It builds camaraderie, boosts morale, and creates a shared sense of purpose.” Employees often say they feel more engaged and proud to work for a company that truly walks the walk when it comes to community involvement.
Receiving the 2025 Outstanding Volunteer Award is a recognition of the time, heart, and energy that Saputo employees have poured into Frederick County. But for them, the biggest reward is the strengthened bond they’ve built with the community they call home. As they put it: “When we support our community, everyone benefits.”
Saputo's leadership in volunteerism reflects what’s possible when business and purpose come together—and we are proud to honor them as a true community champion.
