About Day of Action

Every year, members of the Frederick County community come together to address the issues that matter the most. They serve on critically needed projects to help our community partner agencies. Sometimes, it’s stuffing backpacks full of books to encourage reading and improve early literacy. Other times, it’s planting community gardens to foster civic pride and promote affordable, healthy eating. Day of Action mirrors the work that United Way does year-round: empowering people to affect positive change in their own backyards, and across the world.

Day of Action 2019 Re-cap

On Friday, October 4 there were 484 volunteers from over 25 businesses who dedicated their time to serve the Frederick Community for our annual Day of Action.
There were 42 service projects, and over 2,400 volunteer hours contributed to our community.
Fun Fact: 2,400 volunteer hours is equivalent to $61,032 worth of labor!
