About Day of Action

Every year, members of the Frederick County community come together to address the issues that matter the most. They serve on critically needed projects to help our community partner agencies. Sometimes, it’s stuffing backpacks full of books to encourage reading and improve early literacy. Other times, it’s planting community gardens to foster civic pride and promote affordable, healthy eating. Day of Action mirrors the work that United Way does year-round: empowering people to effect positive change in their own backyards, and across the world.

Day of Action provides a variety of services such home repair assitance for seniors, veterans, or other ALICE individuals as well as nonprofit projects that include painting, gardening and more. All project applications are to be submitted no later than August 15, 2020. If you are unable to submit your project online or have difficulty downloading the application, please contact Shana Knight at or call 240-578-4008 for assistance. Please submit an application to host a project for Day of Action if you are a registered nonprofit 501(c)(3), located and providing services in Frederick County.
