What's in the News?! Local Banks "Loan" Associates to United Way of Frederick County's 2007 Campaign
August 22nd, 2007

FREDERICK, MARYLAND- United Way of Frederick County (UWFC) is again this year getting a helping hand from associates from BB&T and M&T Bank. This is BB&T's fifth consecutive year providing employees to volunteer in this capacity and M&T Bank has signed on for its third year.

Loaned associates are volunteer employees that local companies provide to United Way to help during its annual campaign. They are involved with all aspects of the planning and implementation of employee giving programs, explained UWFC president and CEO Bill Kantz. "A loaned associate is a member of the United Way campaign team and works flexible hours for United Way of Frederick County during the campaign period," said Mr. Kantz. "They are assigned several accounts and work closely with the employee campaign coordinator to arrange for the best use of employee meetings. The loaned associate is a liaison with the coordinator of each business until its campaign is complete and the final report is turned in to United Way," he continued.

Mr. Kantz said being a loaned associate does not require someone to miss much work. It's more a matter of getting materials needed to run the campaign to the coordinator and answering logistical questions. It's a point of contact beyond the United Way office, he explained.

A local, volunteer-managed organization, United Way of Frederick County is investing in four goal areas to achieve measurable results and community impact by supporting programs that assist children and families, provide emergency services, offer health education and serve those with disabilities through its 23 partner agencies.
