What's in the News?! United Way of Frederick County to Host Day of Caring on September 27
Asking Local Businesses to Make an Impact
August 14th, 2007

FREDERICK, MARYLAND-United Way of Frederick County (UWFC) is asking local businesses to get involved with its annual Day of Caring, to be held on Thursday, September 27. Day of Caring is a unique opportunity for Frederick businesses to join with several of UWFC's partner agencies to provide hands-on help for special projects and client activities. Most assignments can be completed within several hours.

"These community projects provide a great opportunity for businesses and employees to give back to the community and work as a team with fellow coworkers," said Pamela Dalton, UWFC marketing manager. "Additionally, Day of Caring presents an inside look at the vital programs and services these agencies are providing and volunteers feel good about helping others."

In past years, employees of local business teams participating in Day of Caring have assisted with bowling parties and golfing outings for the clients with developmental disabilities, reading stories to children in daycare and general maintenance for agencies. Some years, companies have held collection drives and stocked shelves at the food bank. This year's participants will receive an official Day of Caring T-shirt.

For additional information or to obtain a complete listing of available projects, businesses may contact Peggy Coffman at 301-663-4231 or peggycoffman@unitedwayfrederick.org.

A local, volunteer-managed organization, United Way of Frederick County invests in community impact by supporting programs that assist children and families, provide emergency services, offer health education and serve those with disabilities through its 23 partner agencies. For additional information, call UWFC at 301-663-4231.
