May 6th, 2008

FREDERICK, MARYLAND—Local “celebrity” scoopers doled out 2,926 scoops of ice cream during Free Cone Day on April 29 at Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Shop on Carroll Creek. In addition to providing free ice cream from noon until 8 p.m., Ben & Jerry’s held several raffles in conjunction with Free Cone Day to benefit United Way of Frederick County (UWFC). The proceeds from the event totaled $900.

A local, volunteer-managed organization, United Way of Frederick County invests in community impact by supporting programs that assist children and families, provide emergency services, offer health education and serve those with disabilities through its 23 partner agencies.
