April 30th, 2007

FREDERICK, MARYLAND-United Way of Frederick County (UWFC) welcomed William W. Kantz as the organization's new president and chief executive officer, effective April 30, 2007. Prior to joining UWFC, Mr. Kantz served as chief development officer for Governor Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center in St. Croix, US Virgin Islands. In this capacity, Mr. Kantz was responsible for the development and ongoing operations of a new charitable resource development program.

Mr. Kantz brings 12 years of United Way experience to UWFC, having previously served as chief executive officer with three other United Way organizations: Cedar Valley United Way, Waterloo, Iowa; Pittsylvania County United Way, Danville, Virginia; and Beaufort County United Way, Washington, North Carolina. Serving as CEO from 2002 through 2005 with Cedar Valley United Way, Mr. Kantz led the organization's $2.5 million annual campaign. During his tenure with that United Way, he established a major gifts program and reversed the organization's trend of declining support. Additionally, using existing research data, customer interest surveys and a community needs assessment, Mr. Kantz established a comprehensive community outreach and research program to allocate available financial resources based on donor interests, community needs and measurable results.
