Western Maryland 2-1-1, which covers Frederick, Washington, Allegany and Garrett counties, is operated by the Mental Health Association of Frederick County. 2-1-1 operates 24 hours a day and 2-1-1 services are available in more than 150 languages.
2-1-1 is answered by trained Call Specialists who assess callers' needs and link them to the right solutions using a comprehensive database of federal, state and local services. For example,
2-1-1 provides information about the following resources:
- Basic human needs
- Physical and mental health
- Employment support
- Support for older Americans and people with disabilities
- Support for children, youth and families
- Mobile crisis services
- Suicide prevention and intervention services
